They're just plain old common wild sunflowers. They smell bad and they're a nuisance to the farmer, but they're green and growing and blooming in my yard. How much happier plant could I ask for? All this joy with absolutely no input from me.

I'm with Betty, they are happy flowers, along with daisies. I have some right now on my counter by the coffeemaker. There is a pile of construction dirt behind our fence and they are growing there. So when mine wilt, I walk over or send a kid over to get me more.
Have you watched sunflowers on a cloudy day? They have no idea which way to face...it's funny.
